Notebook Reviews: MALLRATS

Kevin Smith – 1995

Writer-director Kevin Smith‘s Mallrats is a hugely entertaining – and very funny comedy. Derided on its initial release, this has so much to recommend and it stands as one of Smith’s finest efforts.

Mallrats has a great ensemble cast – Jeremy London, Jason Lee, Claire Forlani, Michael Rooker, Shannen Doherty, Joey Lauren Adams and Ben Affleck –  but the stand out is Lee – who delivers a comedic tour-de-force performance. Throw in that early Affleck turn and you have something special. 

Mallrats has some great comedic touches – but it won’t be for everyone, that’s for sure! Great fun.
