Trailer: SNAKE EYES: G.I. JOE ORIGINS Looks Like Marvel Crossed With John Wick
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins looks like it’s trying to cross-breed the Marvel playbook with John Wick. There’s no problem in that, I suppose – if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Slam-bam action, CGI augmented stunts and an attempt at some superficial gravitas. You know what to expect – and it ain’t going to be good.
A G.I. Joe Origins movie is totally unnecessary, but this will sell tickets and toys – the Paramount Pictures people will be happy. Henry Golding plays the title character in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins which opens on 18 August 2021.
The synopsis:
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honour and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him. Based on the iconic G.I. Joe character, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins also stars Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó as Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Takehiro Hira as Kenta and Iko Uwais as Hard Master.
