Clint Eastwood’s CRY MACHO: Great Trailer, Shame About the Poster

The trailer for Clint Eastwood‘s Cry Macho is a great piece of marketing. It’s selling an old-fashioned road movie – the type that Eastwood has made a career out of. However, the same can’t be said about this poster. It’s terrible.

They’re really leaning into Eastwood’s western iconography with the cowboy hat – and there’s absolutley nothing wrong with that. It’s the proportions of the actor-director’s photoshopped head – it doesn’t appear to match the body. 

Surely the poster for a Warner Bros. studio movie with awards and box office potential deserves something more than this? It looks cheap and rushed. I hate when bad posters happen to (potentially) movies. 

Cry Macho opens in U.S. cinemas and HBO Max on 17 September 2021 and it will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 12 November 2021.
