Notebook Reviews: FALLEN
Gregory Hoblit – 1998
Fallen is a well made supernatural thriller from director Gregory Hoblit. Admittedly, the whole thing is a little far-fetched but it’s so well done that it really doesn’t matter.
The film is anchored by a great turn from Denzel Washington – who plays the role with the right amount of likability and realism (does Denzel ever give a bad performance?). John Goodman and Donald Sutherland offer strong support.
This serial killer thriller has hints of David Fincher‘s Seven and while it might not be as good as that film, Fallen is serious cut above many other entries in the genre. Worth a watch.
