Will The Kid Who Would Be King launch a new franchise, or will it die the same painful death as a dozen other family adventure films which failed in trying to ape the success of the Harry Potter series?
If I was a betting man, I’d put the money on Joe Cornish’s film ending up the latter. I have no ill will towards this – but it just seems like we’ve seen it all before.
You might think otherwise after watching the below trailer:
Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Dean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor, Rhianna Dorris and Angus Imrie, Sir Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson star in The Kid Who Would Be King which hits the UK cinemas on 15 February, 2019
Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he’s just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.
