Trailer & Poster: Josh Lucas Takes On A Megalodon In THE BLACK DEMON
Readers of Movies In Focus will know that I’m a big fan of killer shark movies. There’s obviously the obligatory Jaws, but there’s great fun to be had with Renny Harlin’s Deep Blue Sea and then there’s a plethora of B-movies which offer plenty of bite for your buck.
This love of monsters from the deep means that I’m very taken by the look of director Adrian Grünberg‘s The Black Demon. I’m really like Josh Lucas – an actor currently riding a wave (and a horse) as a younger version of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton in Yellowstone. I also think that Grünberg’s Mel Gibson starrer Get The Gringo (aka How I Spent My Summer Vacation) is monumentally under-appreciated action film. It looks like there’s plenty to enjoy here.
Co-starring Fernanda Urrejola, Julio Cesar Cedillo, The Black Demon hits U.S. cinemas of 28 April 2023.
The synopsis:
Josh Lucas (Ford v Ferrari, Yellowstone) stars in this edge-of-your-seat action thriller from the director of Rambo: Last Blood. Oilman Paul Sturges’ (Lucas) idyllic family vacation turns into a nightmare when they encounter a ferocious megalodon shark that will stop at nothing to protect its territory. Stranded and under constant attack, Paul and his family must somehow find a way to get his family back to shore alive before it strikes again in this epic battle between humans and nature.
