Trailer & Poster: Douglas Schulze’s Latest Horror Film THORNS Looks Like Serious Nightmare Fuel
Movies In Focus has known writer/director Douglas Schulze for almost fifteen years. I first got in touch with him after he made Dark Fields (or The Rain as it was then called) way back in 2009 and we’ve kept in contact ever since. He’s got a real unique vision as a filmmaker. Films such as Mimesis: Night Of The Living Dead, The Dark Below, Mimesis: Nosferatu not only show someone who understands the horror genre, but also someone who isn’t afraid of playing with its conventions and pushing boundaries. Schulze also has a handy knack of casting horror icons in his films, having worked with the likes of John Saxon, David Carradine, Dee Wallace, Sid Haig and Lance Henriksen.
Thorns looks like yet another intriguing genre entry and this time it features Doug Bradley, the star of the Hellraiser films. Having watched the below trailer, it looks like Thorns is another uniquely fashioned horror – one that looks like it might be serious nightmare fuel. Jon Bennett, Cassandra Shomer, Bo Shumacher and Elly Schulze also star.
No release date has been set for Thorns, but Movies In Focus will keep you posted as things develop.
The synopsis:
“The story centers on an ex-priest working for NASA who is sent to investigate a remote observatory that went silent after receiving a radio signal from deep space. Upon arrival, he discovers the signal has set in motion the biblical end of times. The former priest must now summon his lost faith to stop the signal from spreading hell on Earth.”
