Notebook Reviews: CHASING AMY

Kevin Smith – 1997

Chasing Amy is one of Kevin Smith‘s finest films (if not the finest). It’s a hugely watchable low-budget comedy/drama with a good script and impressive performances from Ben Affleck and Jason Lee. 

The main issue that I have with Chasing Amy is the fact that the switch from comedy to drama in the last act is a little jarring, but it’s not a fatal flaw. There’s a lot to enjoy here – just don’t watch it with your grandmother.
