Notebook Reviews: PULP FICTION
Quentin Tarantino – 1994.
Quentin Tarantino‘s Pulp Fiction changed the face of cinema when it was released in 1994. A modern noir, the film packed a visceral punch with its snappy dialogue and rich characterisation. Movies had never felt so fresh.
Loaded with a stacked cast – John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames and Uma Thurman – Tarantino’s film follows a series of interconnected tales set within the Los Angeles criminal underworld.
Immensely quotable dialogue and a brilliant soundtrack helped the film enter the public consciousness in a big, big way. It’s well deserved because as far as cinema goes, there’s before Pulp Fiction and after Pulp Fiction.
