Notebook Reviews: GET CARTER
Mike Hodges – 1971
Director Mike Hodges‘ Get Carter is an enjoyable enough 1970s crime drama, but maybe it’s not as great as its reputation would have you believe. If truth be told, this gritty gangster film is…a little boring.
Hodge’s film has some impressive camera work and he creates some good tension and a sense of uneasiness. Michael Caine does strong work as the gangster looking for answers after the death of his brother. Get Carter worth a watch, but I don’t think it’s a true classic. Maybe I’m wrong, you tell me.
