THE X-FILES Images: David Duchovny And Gillian Anderson Speak But The Series Is Steeped In Mystery
The X-Files is coming back. A new limited run of the hit sci-fi show is currently shooting and EW scored some set time with the David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter. Here are some images – which tell us nothing at all about the new series.
However the stars had something vague to say about this new series…
The always sarcastic Duchovny said:
“Mulder’s not in a great place. He’s wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe. He’s in a dark, dark place.”
Anderson stated:
“I like where we find Mulder and Scully in their relationship. I also like the area of zeitgeist that we step in to. It’s on point and raises some very interesting issues. And question marks.”
Creator Chris Carter had this to say:
“The X-Files ended right after 9/11. A lot has happened since then. A lot of rollback of rights and liberties in the name of our protection. We’re being spied on now, we’re being lied to — all things that, for me, remind me of when I grew up, which was right around Watergate. I think we’re in similar and much more dire times right now.”
What does all this mean? Your guess is as good as mine, but Carter did reveal that the series won’t be revisiting former glories: “These are all brand new stories. We hope to scare you in brand new ways.”
