Trailer For Shudder’s Cosmic Horror THE BEACH HOUSE

Here’s the trailer for The Beach House, Shudder‘s forthcoming horror film, which drops on 9 July 2020.

Written and directed by Jeffrey A. Brown, the pic is described as ‘a striking and timely eco-horror that offers up an alluring mix of claustrophobic isolation, mysterious contagion, and dreamy seaside setting’. The film which stars Liana Liberato, Noah Le Gros, Jake Weber and Maryanne Nagel won good reviews on the festival circuit before getting picked-up by Shudder

This is a well cut trailer to be sure, offering-up enough potential Cronenberg-style body horror to keep gore hounds happy. Movies In Focus is getting reminded of the recent Nicolas Cage/Richard Stanley bonkers adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s Color Out Of Space. That’s no bad thing.

The trailer:

The synopsis:

Escaping to a family’s beach house to reconnect, Emily and Randall find their off-season trip interrupted by Mitch and Jane Turner, an older couple acquainted with Randall’s estranged father. Unexpected bonds form as the couples let loose and enjoy the isolation, but it all takes an ominous turn as increasingly strange environmental phenomena begin to warp their peaceful evening. As the effects of an infection become evident, Emily struggles to make sense of the contagion before it’s too late.
