SKYFALL Passes GOLDENEYE; Bond Film Continues To Score Serious Box Office
Skyfall has now passed Goldeneye’s $101 million lifetime US gross to become the sixth highest grossing James Bond movie of all time at the US box office – in just five days!
Daniel Craig currently holds the title for the two highest grossing Bond films, with Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale taking the top spots with $168 million and $167 million respectively. In the next week or so the film will pass the Pierce Brosnan efforts, Tomorrow Never Dies ($125 million), The World Is Not Enough ($126 million) and Die Another Day ($160 million).
Skyfall (read my review) will then continue on the road to box office success and become the highest grossing James Bond film of all time (unadjusted again) in the US, probably hitting $250 million by the time all is said and done.
The Sam Mendes directed film has now grossed over $538 million worldwide, a figure which is closing in on the $599 million global take of Casino Royale, the highest grossing film in the 50 year old spy franchise’s history. Skyfall will pass that soon – and it might hit $1 billion globally.
