Richard Donner On LETHAL WEAPON 5: ‘We’ll Make It’

Rumblings of Lethal Weapon 5 keep getting louder and louder. Director Richard Donner appeared on Star Trek podcast, Spocklight and dropped some info on the long-gestating fifth instalment of the action franchise. It looks like everything is set for the film to happen – it just needs the green light from Warner Bros.

Donner had this to say when taking about the film:

“It’s a story I came up with with Channing Gibson, the writer who wrote ‘Lethal Weapon 4’ and I’m just having to work it out with the studio. If everybody steps up and we all get together, we’ll make it. Mel and Danny are on board. If it doesn’t work out, at least we tried. But there’s a better chance that you will see the movie.”

Sounds positive. Longtime readers of Movies In Focus will know that I’m eager for this to happen – so cross your fingers. Richard Donner would once again direct and Mel Gibson and Danny Glover would reprise their trademark roles as Riggs and Murtaugh.
