Notebook Reviews: THE PERFECT STORM
Wolfgang Peterson – 2000.
Seafaring drama The Perfect Storm sees Wolfgang Petersen directing George Clooney in his first out-and-out box office hit.
It’s a solid enough disaster movie, but the characters are a little underdeveloped and it uses great actors to cover the cracks. Aside from Clooney, The Perfect Storm‘s impressive supporting cast which includes Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane, John Hawkes, William Fichtner, John C. Reilly, Karen Allen.
The writing may be a disappointment, but The Perfect Storm‘s visual effects are truly impressive – and they ultimately make the film worth watching.
To sum The Perfect Storm up – great effects, shame about the characterisation.
