Notebook Reviews: PROOF OF LIFE

Taylor Hackford – 2000

A solid action/drama from Taylor Hackford, Proof of Life is sufficient without ever being truly satisfying The action scenes are well done and Russell Crowe is good in the lead role – even if he gets second billing to Meg Ryan. 

The so-called romantic subplot is under-cooked to the point of non-existence and it’s Hackford’s handling of dramatic moments which ultimately let the film down. Good ending though.
