Notebook Reviews: PEARL HARBOR

Michael Bay  – 2001

Michael Bay’s epic blockbuster features some spectacular action and special effects. Pearl Harbor has the usual Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay feel with orange sunsets and slow-motion.

Ben Affleck does his leading man thing – it’s good seeing him get top billing. The rest of the cast also impress – notably Alec Baldwin in a great supporting role. 

Bay’s film might have a similar feel to Armageddon but it’s not as flippant as that asteroid action piece. Pearl Harbor is a slick, enjoyable and old-fashioned romantic epic. Watch it!
