Notebook Reviews: CONSPIRACY THEORY
Richard Donner – 1997
Conspiracy Theory is a top-notch thriller from the winning combo of Mel Gibson and Richard Donner. It improves with repeat viewings and there’s a good mix of laughs and thrills to be had. Julia Roberts is somewhat wasted in a supporting (yet co-headlining) role, although Patrick Stewart is good as the villain of the piece.
It’s a pity that the film’s original concept seems to have been softened – because this could have been a classic paranoia thriller that is right up there with The Parallax View. However regardless of that, Conspiracy Theory is good fun as it is.
