Pitched as a sort of science fiction take on Lord Of The Flies, writer-director Neil Burger’s Voyagers seems to have a certain amount of visceral energy (going from the trailer).
Burger’s films can be hit or miss (hit: The Illusionist/miss:Divergent), but this has the potential to be a solid sci-fi entry – if it doesn’t delve too far into YA territory (although I fear that it might).
Voyagers opens in the UK later in 2021 and US screens on 9 April 2021.
With the future of the human race at stake, a group of young men and women, bred for intelligence and obedience, embark on an expedition to colonize a distant planet. But when they uncover disturbing secrets about the mission, they defy their training and begin to explore their most primitive natures. As life on the ship descends into chaos, they’re consumed by fear, lust, and the insatiable hunger for power.
