Notebook Reviews: CHRONIQUE D’UN ÉTÉ

3.5 out of 5 stars

Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin – 1961

Chronique d’un été (Chronicle of a Summer) is an insightful, if rather depressing documentary exploring human perception.

It’s interesting to see how people perceive their own existence and the possibilities of their futures. It’s quite a fascinating piece and although some of it seems quite staged, it’s a riveting look at how people cope with their day-to-day lives.

Chronique d’un été wouldn’t be for everyone, but it does make for compelling viewing.
