Notebook Reviews: MARATHON MAN

John Schlesinger – 1976.

John Schlesinger‘s Marathon Man is a wonderful suspense thriller with an impressive cast –Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Olivier, Roy Scheider and William Devane. 

William Goldman‘s screenplay (adapted from his own novel) has plenty of development, well crafted moments and tense set pieces (particularly the torture scene). The performances are great too and everyone is a joy to watch (Hoffman makes for an intriguing leading man). 

Marathon Man is a film which truly deserves his classic status.
