Notebook Reviews: CASTAWAY

Robert Zemeckis – 2001 

An amazing cinematic feat, Castaway captivates throughout its entire running time. Tom Hanks is excellent in the lead, going through a gruelling transformation and commanding the screen alone for the majority of the movie. Robert Zemeckis does a good job of balancing the humour and the drama in this thoughtful film. 

It’s also good to see an ending that makes a stand without selling out for an upbeat finale.
