Notebook Reviews: BRINGING OUT THE DEAD

Martin Scorsese – 1999

Martin Scorsese‘s Bringing Out The Dead is a bleak and grimy drama which can be difficult to watch at times. The cast do some great work with Nicolas Cage delivering under-the-radar performance and a stand-out supporting turn from Ving Rhames. 

As dark as it is, this does have some underlying humour scattered throughout and this lightens the film’s sombre tone. Overall, Bringing Out The Dead is a great drama – and one of Scorsese’s best films.
