Notebook Reviews: BOILER ROOM
Ben Younger – 2000
Boiler Room is a surprisingly good financial thriller with a strong cast (Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Nia Long, Nicky Katt, Scott Caan, Jamie Kennedy and Ben Affleck) and some very good performances. The stand-out turn here is Vin Diesel – who shows star-making strength. Ben Affleck is also very good – if a little underused.
Ben Younger’s film easy to understand considering the financial jargon and the fast moving pace. You could argue about Boiler Room’s ending, but why bother?
