Notebook Reviews: BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA

5 out of 5 stars

John Carpenter – 1986.

It’s very likely that Big Trouble In Little China is one of the most entertaining films ever made. Kurt Russell and John Carpenter are at the peak of their powers delivering this martial arts/action-comedy/adventure-fantasy.

The script sparkles with wit and ingenuity and the performances are pitch perfect. Kurt Russell has never been better than he is as Jack Burton, a swaggering idiot who leaves all the action to Dennis Dun‘s ‘sidekick’, Wang.

A box office bomb on its initial release, Big Trouble In Little China was a film which was way ahead of its time. Brilliant.
