Notebook Reviews: RAVENOUS
Antonia Bird – 1999
A bizarre and darkly comic horror-western, Antonia Bird’s Ravenous is a uniquely entertaining slice of cinema. The film features some great set-pieces and the first hour is stunning – it loses some momentum after that but it’s still impressive stuff.
The performances are are all top-notch with great turns in particular from Guy Pearce, Neal McDonough and Jeffrey Jones. It also has a fantastic score by Michael Nyman and Blur‘s Damon Albarn
Tense, quirky and throughly entertaining, Ravenous is a film wirth seeking out.
