Notebook Reviews: RONIN

3.5 out of 5 stars

John Frankenheimer – 1998

The great John Frankenheimer is almost at the top of his game with Ronin. The thriller features some truly dazzling car chases that have to be seen to be believed – much like the ones in his racing drama, Grand Prix.

Robert DeNiro is excellent in the lead – more likeable and relaxed than in a lot of other roles and Jean Reno is also great in a scene stealing turn. Ronin is an excellent action yarn, one which is only letdown by a disappointing ending – but over-all it’s a well made and entertaining film.
