Brian Dennehy Dies Aged 81
Acclaimed character actor Brian Dennehy has passed away at the age of 81. A large and formidable actor, Dennehy had a muscular screen presence. He was always great and elevated everything he starred in. He had a wonderfully varied filmography which included multiple television appearances and films such as Foul Play, First Blood, Cocoon, Silverado, F/X: Murder By Illusion, Legal Eagles, Best Seller, Blue Heat, Presumed Innocent and Knight of Cups.
Dennehy’s daughter, actress Elizabeth Dennehy, broke the news…
It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian passed away last night from natural causes, not Covid-related. Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends.”
Dennehy’s most iconic role was probably as the gruff Sheriff Teasle in 1982’s First Blood. It’s a well balanced performance in a movie which is much more grounded and gritty than many remember.
