Daniel Craig As Ian Fleming’s JAMES BOND

In 2005, the Broccoli family decided not to renew Pierce Brosnan’s contract for a fifth film after 2002’s Die Another Day. Controversial choice Daniel Craig was hired to reboot the franchise (along with Goldeneye director Martin Campbell) in Casino Royale (2006). Whilst many thought that the film would be a huge failure, it became a huge critical and commercial hit. Bond was back with a whole new swagger. 

Craig and Campbell stripped away many of James Bond’s iconic elements. Discarding Q, Moneypenny and gadgets, this 21st Century Bond was again more like the dark and brooding anti-hero of Ian Fleming’s books.

Craig and the Broccoli family rebuilt the character from the ground-up, adding elements from the Bond mythos with each film. From Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace through to Skyfall and SPECTRE we got to see Craig;s Bond grow and establish himself into a fully formed character. Along the way he picked-up friends with characters like M (Ralph Fiennes), Moneypenny (Naomi Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) once again making an appearance. 

Daniel Craig has made the character of James Bond his own. A 15 year tenure means that he he has played the character longer than any other actor (although Roger Moore made more films). His Bond films have been successful and entertaining and it will be very interesting to see where Bond goes when a new actor takes over the role. 

Daniel Craig’s fifth and final appearance as James Bond in No Time To Die is scheduled to open in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 and in the US on November 25, 2020.
