Benicio Del Toro Offered The Villain Role In STAR WARS EPISODE VIII – But He Is Not A Jedi Yet!
The Force is strong with Benicio De Toro – well it might be, if he wants it. The Oscar-winning actor has been offered the villain role in Star Wars Episode VIII. Rian Johnson is set to helm the next instalment of the Star Wars saga, which is set for release on May 26, 2017.
The is far from a done deal and Del Toro turned down the role Khan in J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek Into Darkness before it went to Benedict Cumberbatch, so there’s the chance he could decline the offer from Lucasfilm. However, he does have a villainous role in the Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy Universe – which means he’s willing to dive into this sort of thing for Disney. If the money is right.
Time will tell (as always) but it’s interesting to note that the hype machine has started for Star Wars VIII months before Star Wars: The Force Awakens has even been released.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in December 2015, while Star Wars Episode VIII hits screens on May 26, 2017
