Belfast Boys Andy & Ryan Tohill To Direct New TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Movie
Tobe Hooper‘s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the great horror movies of all-time. It’s a visceral rollercoaster, a gripping tale of terror told in a very simple way. None of the film’s follow-ups have managed to replicate the simplicity of what made Hooper’s movie so great. Heck, even Hooper managed to fumble things with his own sequel.
However, I have a gut feeling that Belfast brothers Andy and Ryan Tohill might be able to deliver something that works with their Texas Chainsaw ‘reboot’.
Andy Tohill scored a Film Studies degree from the same University as Movies In Focus – Queen’s University, while Ryan Tohill studied visual arts at Ulster University. The duo scored a critical success with their 2017 directorial debut The Dig.
There’s a bleakness to the countryside in Ireland, and I think this will bring a certain understanding of what makes the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre so horrifying. The unknown of what lurks in the country., the horror behind the hedges. That makes me excited.
