Trailer For Prano Bailey-Bond’s Video Nasty Horror CENSOR Starring Niamh Algar

Prano Bailey-Bond’s Censor looks great. The 1980s set horror riffs on the UK’s obsession with the ‘Video Nasty’ during the early years of VHS and it seems to feature some striking visuals and good performances.

Niamh Algar (so good it Calm With Horses) leads the cast which is also features Nicholas Burns, Vincent Franklin, Sophia La Porta, Adrian Schiller and Michael Smiley. It’s also Executive Produced by the mighty Kim Newman – so you know the particulars will be spot-on.

Censor scored critical acclaim last the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival – and it’s finally set to get a UK release on 25 June 2021.

The synopsis:

Britain, 1985. When film censor Enid discovers an eerie horror that speaks directly to her sister’s mysterious disappearance, she resolves to unravel the puzzle behind the film and its enigmatic director – a quest that will blur the lines between fiction and reality in terrifying ways. Steeped in glorious 1980s aesthetics, Censor is a bloody love letter to the VHS ‘video nasty’ horror classics of the past.
