Trailer For Denis Villeneuve’s Long-Awaited Adaptation Of DUNE

The first trailer has arrived for director Denis Villeneuve’s starry adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. This looks impressive and pretty big in scope.

Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista all get their moment of screen time in this trailer for the epic sci-fi film which is set to open in on 18 December 2020.

Movies In Focus hasn’t read Herbert’s book, or seen any other of the screen adaptations (David Lynch’s 1984 film and the 2000 mini-series) but I have to say that this has piqued my interest.

The synopsis:

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
