Record-Breaking Box Office Opening For BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
Updated!
The majority of critics may not have been enamoured by Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (despite the fact it’s really rather good) – but audiences have embraced the movie across the globe (well, their wallets have).
Zack Snyder’s superhero mash-up banked a mighty $170.1 $166 million at the US box office, a number which is the best March opening ever and the sixth-biggest US opening weekend of all-time. It’s also the highest opening for any Warner Bros release (and that makes it the biggest ever Batman/Superman launch).
The US numbers are impressive but the film bagged an additional $254 million from international territories, bringing the global total to $420 million. The coveted $1 billion mark is now in sight for the $250 million movie.
It’ll be interesting to see how this holds up in the coming weeks – but this is a great start for the DC Universe franchise starter.
