Notebook Reviews: THIRTEEN DAYS
Roger Donaldson – 2000
Thirteen Days is a tense and highly captivating political drama with some very fine performances. Kevin Costner is great as White House assistant Kenneth O’Donnell and Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp are also excellent as the Kennedy brothers.
Based on the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, director Roger Donaldson expertly handles proceedings by using drama and tension rather than action. Thirteen Days is a film for grown-ups – a shame the box office wasn’t stronger.
