Rod Lurie – 2001
Director Rod Lurie delivers a thoughtful, but hugely entertaining prison drama with The Last Castle. Robert Redford is great in the lead role – but Lurie’s film also has a fantastic supporting cast – James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo and Delroy Lindo.
This military prison drama is a well structured piece with the pacing and tone of a classic ’70s film. Criminally under-seen during its cinematic release, there’s a lot that impresses in The Last Castle. Seek it out.
