Notebook Reviews: COMMANDO

4 out of 5 stars

Mark L. Lester – 1985.

Somewhere, somehow, someone’s going to pay! Commando is pure entertainment. This Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner delivers everything that you would want from an ’80s action film. Explosions, stunts, shoot-outs and immensely quotable one-liners.

Schwarzenegger is on great form as John Matrix, the retired special forces badass who will stop at nothing to get back his kidnapped daughter. He’s an unstoppable killing machine as he fights his way towards the big showdown with Vernon Wells’ Bennett. Talk about letting off some steam. Schwarzenegger’s Matrix makes Rambo look like Bambi

Hugely enjoyable, Commando is a great way to spend 90 minutes. There’s a great James Horner score in there too.
