Notebook Reviews: THE GRADUATE
Mike Nichols – 1967.
A cinematic game-changer when it was first released in 1967, Mike Nichols‘ The Graduate still impresses after all these years. Sure, it’s dated a little but the film’s core message still rings true.
Dustin Hoffman is excellent in his break-out role as Benjamin Braddock – but Anne Bancroft, Katharine Ross and William Daniels also do great work. The Graduate‘s Simon & Garfunkel soundtrack is phenomenal – including the perennial classic, Mrs. Robinson. It’s perfectly in-keeping with the tone of Nichols’ film.
Dramatic, comedic and perfectly composed – The Graduate is essential viewing.
