Notebook Reviews: LORD OF THE RINGS – THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
Peter Jackson – 2001
Superb special effects lead the way in this excellent fantasy film from director Peter Jackson. At times Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring is merely average, however when it’s good – it’s fantastic.
Ian McKellen and Viggo Mortensen are the standouts, but everyone puts in good work. Sean Bean also deserves to be recognised as does Howard Shore’s score.
The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring might be a tad too long but it’s based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic novel, so you can’t really complain. Excellent.
