Notebook Reviews: THE FAN
Tony Scott – 1996
The Fan is a pretty solid thriller from master action director Tony Scott. The film looks fantastic with its orange filters and slow motion. Robert DeNiro is good as the deranged fan but Wesley Snipes appears to be a little out of his depth as the baseball player he’s obsessed with. As for John Leguizamo – we won’t mention that guy.
Ellen Barkin is under-used and her interesting role could have been beefed-up somewhat. Overall, The Fan is a little contrived and the ending is rushed but it’s slick and entertaining all the same.
