Notebook Reviews: THE FAMILY MAN
Brett Ratner – 2000
The Family Man is a pretty good fantasy/drama from director Brett Ratner. The film features yet another strong performance from Nicolas Cage and a good supporting cast (Téa Leoni, Don Cheadle and Jeremy Piven).
The central premise for the film is intriguing (it has hints of Capra classic, It’s A Wonderful Life) and the whole thing is well presented, but the opening and closing sections are something of a let-down.
Overall though, The Family Man is good, solid (if undemanding) fun.
