Notebook Reviews: TANGO & CASH
Andrei Konchalovsky – 1989
Tango & Cash is pure entertainment! Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone are on fine form as mismatched cops in this very ’80s buddy movie. Russell & Stallone make for a great pairing and it’s a shame a sequel never materialised – it could have had franchise legs like the Lethal Weapon movies.
The one-liners come as thick and fast as the bullets in Tango & Cash‘s well-staged (and over the top) action set pieces. Admittedly it has no nutritional cinematic value – it’s just great fun. It won’t give you the meaning of life, but Tango & Cash will give you a damn good night at the movies!
