Trailer & Poster: Stallone Takes A Back Seat & Lets Statham Drive The EXPEND4BLES

You won’t find a bigger fan of The Expendables franchise than Movies In Focus. I thought the first film was solid enough, but I think the franchise reached its potential with the second and third instalments. A lot of that had to do with the [...]

Notebook Reviews: TANGO & CASH

Andrei Konchalovsky – 1989 Tango & Cash is pure entertainment! Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone are on fine form as mismatched cops in this very ’80s buddy movie. Russell & Stallone make for a great pairing and it’s a [...]

Don’t #ReleaseTheAyerCut: David Ayer Gives The Final Word On SUICIDE SQUAD

Look, Movies In Focus enjoyed David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. It wasn’t perfect, but I had a good time with it (enough to watch it twice). James Gunn’s follow-up/reboot The Suicide Squad has been getting rave views and fans have [...]

Yippee Ki-Yay! DIE HARD Turns 33 Years Old

Die Hard is a great example of the Hollywood studio system getting moviemaking right – the film is a perfect storm of story and talent coming together. It is hard to fathom that the action-thriller was such an unknown quantity when it was first [...]

New Trailer For James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD – Expect The Usual Divisive Rants

Here’s the latest trailer for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. This sequel/reboot appears less generic (and brighter) than the David Ayer directed 2016 film and it looks to up the joke quota – but I get the feeling this is [...]

Uncovering Curiosities: Dick Richard’s FAREWELL, MY LOVELY

Farewell, My Lovely, the 1975 adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s hardboiled novel of the same name is an old-fashioned film noir, mixed with touch of 70s cinematic cool. Robert Mitchum takes the lead as Phillip Marlowe, the iconic (and laconic) [...]

Trailer & Poster: James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD Looks Fun

Movies In Focus has no real qualms about this first trailer for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. It looks like the type of film that we all knew Gunn would deliver. This sequel/reboot appears less corporate than the David Ayer directed yet [...]

It Doesn’t Matter If DIE HARD Is A Christmas Movie!

Every year the argument rages to decide whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Bruce Willis believes that it isn’t, but there are others who feel that John McTiernan’s film sits alongside the likes of It’s A Wonderful Life [...]

It’s A Long Road: Sylvester Stallone Takes A Break On The Set Of FIRST BLOOD

First Blood introduced cinema audiences to John Rambo for the first time and the face of cinema was changed. An adaptation of David Morrell’s tense novel, Ted Kotcheff’s 1982 film was a cinematic gut punch, a energetic adventure tale with a [...]

Behind The Scenes: Arnold Schwarzenegger And Harrison Ford On The Set Of THE EXPENDABLES 3

If you delve too deep into The Expendables 3 then you’ll see that it’s implausible and totally far-fetched, but it’s a film which doesn’t pretend to be anything other than fun! Patrick Hughes’ action pic is a fun thrill-ride, [...]

Blu-ray Review: Spend Time With Sylvester Stallone In LOCK UP

Lock Up might not be Sylvester Stallone’s finest hour, but if you check your brain at the door and embrace its silliness then you’ll likely have a good enough time. This prison thriller sees Stallone’s salt-of-the-earth prisoner having a [...]

Sylvester Stallone Agrees With Movies In Focus: Escape Plan 2 Is The Most Horribly Produced Film

Sylvester Stallone has been doing the promo for the fun Escape Plan 3: The Extractors. It follows hot in the heels of the atrocious Escape Plan 2: Hades – one of the very few films Movies In Focus has ever given just one star (read the [...]

Review: Sylvester Stallone Actioner ESCAPE PLAN 3: THE EXTRACTORS Is Surprisingly Good Fun

Escape Plan 2: Hades was a cinematic abomination, a woeful black mark on the career of Sylvester Stallone. The Steven C. Miller sequel to the enjoyable 2013 actioner was cheap and nasty, a visual void with a sleepwalking Stallone collecting a [...]

Stallone Is Back In The RAMBO: LAST BLOOD Trailer

Rambo: Last Blood seems to be something of a left turn for the 40 year old franchise. This fifth (and likely final) entry into Sylvester Stallone‘s bone-crunching, gun-blasting action series looks to be more of a modern day western and a [...]

Why Bother? Jaume Collet-Serra To Direct ESCAPE TO VICTORY Remake

Escape To Victory (or Victory as it was known in the US) is generally regarded as one of the worst films ever made. Why would you even consider remaking the John Huston directed WWII pic? The 1981 film starred the unlikely combination of Michael [...]
