Notebook Reviews: STRIPES

Ivan Reitman – 1981

3 out of 5 stars

Stripes is an enjoyable enough comedy from director Ivan Reitman. There’s a great turn from Bill Murray (is there ever a bad one?) and Harold Ramis is wonderful – but this has dated somewhat. It doesn’t have the spark of Ghostbusters, that’s for sure.

Some of the jokes in Stripes hit the target, while some miss the mark – but that’s par for the course with this type of flick.

The supporting cast is good and Elmer Bernstein’s score adds some oomph. Ultimately, Stripes is fun – but nothing mind-blowing.
