Notebook Reviews: YOU’VE GOT MAIL

Nora Ephron – 1998.

You’ve Got Mail is an enjoyable romantic comedy from director (and co-writer) Nora Ephron. This hit comedy is light and breezy and there’s no denying that there’s plenty of fun to be had. The film marks the third – and so far final – romantic pairing between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The duo make for a great onscreen couple and they impress in their tailor-made roles. How could they not?

Ephron’s movie looks and sounds great – and there’s a wonderful relaxed feel to the whole thing because proceedings never get too serious.

You’ve Got Mail is pure fluff – but at least it’s good fluff.
