Notebook Reviews: SHADOWS AND FOG

Woody Allen – 1991

Shadows And Fog is a bizarre but entertaining effort from Woody Allen that features an excellent cast: Allen, Mia Farrow, John Malkovich, John Cusack, Jodie Foster and Madonna amongst others.  

It’s very off-beat, but this curio is an intriguing piece of cinema with great visuals. The striking black and white photography is fantastic and the whole thing has a strong German Expressionist feel. It might be Allen’s best looking film. 

All in all, Shadows And Fog is enjoyable, but it’s certainly not for everyone.
