Notebook Reviews: RAISING ARIZONA

Joel Coen – 1987

Raising Arizona is a fantastic off-beat comedy  – and one of the Cohen Brothers finest films.

Nicolas Cage is great as the dim-witted ex-con, but the film’s best moments involve the Lone Rider Of The Apocalypse. There’s a lot to enjoy in this live-action cartoon, but the film’s ending is also a serious highpoint. 

Raising Arizona comes highly recommended, although it might not be to everyone’s taste!
