Notebook Reviews: RAIN MAN

4 out of 5 stars

Barry Levinson – 1988

Rain Man is an energetic road movie and director Barry Levinson delivers everything that you would want from this type of film.

The film sees Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise give performances at the top of their game – and they’re both great. Cruise plays against type as the cocky car salesman but it was Hoffman who took home Oscar gold in the showier role.

It might be a touch lover-long and Levinson spends a bit too much time showing-off the passing countryside and Las Vegas cityscape, but Rain Man great stuff nonetheless.
