Notebook Reviews: LETHAL WEAPON
Richard Donner – 1987.
Lethal Weapon is the movie that kick-started an incredible movie franchise – and the buddy movie sub-genre. Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Richard Donner are on fine form in delivering this cracking thriller. The characters are great, the relationships are superb and the action is first-rate. Shane Black‘s script is excellent and the musical score by Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton and David Sanborn is wonderful too.
Lethal Weapon has aged incredibly well over the years – the lack of CGI shows that you really don’t need it to create something tangible – and that it all starts with a script. One of the best action-thrillers of the 1980s. What more could you want?
