Peter Hyams – 1999

End Of Days is a gloriously old-fashioned action movie from director Peter Hyams. This end of the century thriller plays like The Omen meets Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Arnold Schwarzenegger is great as the ex-cop battling Satan and Gabriel Byrne seems to relish his scenery chewing turn as The Devil. It’s silly as hell – literally.

The visual effects are great and the film looks wonderful with an excellent sense of atmosphere. End of Days is an entertaining movie which delivers both horror and thrills. Highly underrated.
